  • How do I know if my drone needs to be registered?
Registration is required for all drones with camera for all weight categories.
  • What is the order of the steps for drone registration?
The first step is to obtain drone insurance, followed by registration with CAAT, which can be done before arriving in the country. The final step is registering with NBTC, which can only be completed after your arrival in Thailand and after receiving your entry stamp. It is recommended to start the entire process before your arrival.
  • Do I need to have an address in Thailand?
Yes, you need a Thai address for drone insurance and registration, but you don't need to be physically present yet. The registration process can start before your trip, and you can use the address of your hotel or Airbnb where you'll be staying. A short stay is sufficient; you don't need to remain at the address for your entire time in Thailand.
  • Can I register my drone with NBTC if I don’t have a visa or an entry stamp in my passport yet?
Unfortunately, no. To finalize the registration with NBTC, you need to have a visa or an entry stamp in your passport confirming your arrival in the country. The registration with NBTC is valid for the duration of your visa.
  • Can I register my drone with CAAT before arriving in Thailand?
Yes, we recommend starting this process before your arrival to avoid delays later on. Unlike NBTC registration, CAAT does not require a visa.
  • What if my drone weighs more than 2000g?
If your drone exceeds 2000 grams, please contact us first at info@droneinthai.com and include information about your drone, such as brand, model, and weight.
  • What is the validity of drone registration?
Drone registration with CAAT is valid for 2 years, whereas with NBTC, it depends on the duration of your visa. Additionally, the insurance is valid for one year starting from when the order is placed.
  • How long will the entire process take?
The process can take up to two weeks, but if all necessary documents are provided, it usually takes about a week.
  • Can I obtain my own drone insurance and use your services only for registration with CAAT and NBTC?
Yes, you can arrange your own insurance. In that case, we can help you exclusively with the registration process at CAAT and NBTC. Please reach out to us at info@droneinthai.com for further consultation.
  • How long is the validity of the drone insurance?
Drone insurance is for a period of one year from the creation of the order.
